The July 199 issue of Pediatrics reports a story almost too bizarre to believe.
Titled "Experiment of Nurture: Ablatio Penis at 2 Months, Sex Reassignment at 7 Months and a Psychosexual Follow-up in Young Adulthood," the report tells the shocking story of two male infants whose penises were accidentally injured during circumcision.
- Case 1. The child's penis was accidentally cut-off at age 7 months. At age 17 months, a decision was made to reassign the infant boy to the female sex, with surgical castration and genital reconstruction. By age 14, the child rejected the female identity and began to live as a male, eventually marrying a woman at age 25 and adopting her children.
- Case 2. The child's penis was accidentally burned off at age 2 months. At age 7 months, the decision was made to raise the child as a girl. So the remainder of the penis and testes were removed. Now the "woman" is living as a lesbian.
The article concludes by saying "At present, however, the clinical literature is deeply divided on the best way to manage cases of traumatic loss of the penis during infancy."
As I write this, I still can't get over that the doctors accidentally cut off the boys penises and then raised them as a girls.
